The Re-Dawn Of AMP Network
...for the past two years, my brother and I have been bickering back and forth about podcasting. We ended ours in the early summer of 2012 for no apparent reason that I can recall. Speaking only for myself, I was nowhere close to burnt out. Having seemingly left playing music behind at this point, podcasting was my new creative outlet. It gave me the opportunity to wax pseudo-intellectual about a broader range of topics, both serious and ridiculous. In one episode, we could go from bickering about politics to ranting about the latest Marvel film. A few hiccups aside, I never wanted to quit doing one.
As of this month, we have finally begun AMP Network once again. We have no delusions about what we are or where we may go. Podcasting has reached the point where there is one for every human on the planet now. The megastars of the podcast world such as Marc Maron or Chris Hardwick have no competition from us. Like any punk rock band completing their first song in someone's basement, we are currently doing this because it feels like that first band again.
Like anyone should, we have aspirations to grow and expand (hopefully not in the waist though). Currently, we are running our first show entitled The Comic Roast. Hosted by my brother Scott (who received written permission from Steve Albini himself to use Shellac's music), we are a weekly show talking about our thoughts on comic books, movies, video/board games and other randomness while likely drinking coffee. We run from an hour to a few minutes over each week and we hope to use the show to also promote cool projects for good people. More on that later...
In the future, gauging interest from others, we hope to add a few other types of podcasts to broaden our appeal. If people enjoy what we do and show their love and support, we hope to offer other types of shows hosted by people you likely know. Essentially, this is a venture we hope to undertake with friends with hopes of taking it as far and high as possible.
If you would like to check the podcast out or follow the site, please do so at AMP Network. You can also follow me on the Twitter @PureRockFury or the podcast @The Comic Roast. The plan is also to get back to blogging with greater regularity again....stay tuned.
