Thinking Outside Of The Box Art

...I spend a lot of time online researching information on board games. From frequenting Amazing-Fantasy, the best comic book shop in the south suburbs of Chicago, I became heavily interested in strategic European hobby gaming. I am intrigued by every facet of the hobby from the depth of thought that goes into a round of Talisman to the ridiculously intricate artwork and components inside of the boxes. At this point, I have reached Tyrone Bigguns-levels of crack-like addiction to board games.

To now, I have spent most time talking about comics, books, games, music and movies that I recommend. While I intend to visit that often and again, I thought I might also use this blog to talk about the things I salivate over. Having already had a sampling of the game universe through playing the deck builder RuneAge, the bigger titles in the series are calling to me. None more so than the main game itself Runewars.

From the look of what is coming inside of that box, I might need a forklift to get it into the car. Admittedly, it is a task to unleash the Hell inside of a game with this many components but having played a few already, it can be plenty worth the effort if you find enough people willing to slog through a long afternoon followed by pizza and possible crying. I recall an evening of Monopoly with my brother and his then-girlfriend that ended with her actually flipping the game over and yelling. Judging by the parts in Runewars, a good few hours could end up with someone actually getting stabbed. I am definitely up for a good old fashioned knife fight.
