This Has To Be Good Or Something

...a one-hundreth post should seem monumental. In reality, I am only aware of this because my Blogger home page let me know that I had 99 of them prior to starting this one. Had I been better prepared, I might have assembled some decoration or made a video with singing goldfish in party hats. Instead, I'm sitting here listening to Frank Zappa and trying to unravel it. There are moments where I like his music and moments where I think "why?".

Today's decision hinged on my listening to the Moon Zappa episode of WTF on my way here this morning. Turns out that host Marc Maron and Moon Zappa have been into one another for twenty years and are now a thing. Rumor was that their conversation was more flirty than informational and for the most part, this was the case. It was not one of my favorite episodes because though it began like any other, it soon felt like they were on a date and I was awkwardly sitting at the table with them. Still, I think a situation like that would be neat...revisiting someone and having that old chemistry light up instantly.

Not having that type of person to reignite with, I've taken to drowning myself in graphic novels. If you read this blog ever, this is evident. Through sheer chance, I was able to track down the first 5 volume of the Sandman series for a bargain. I am now reaching a point where I can construct a tent city living space in just the graphic novels I have not yet read. If I threw in the ones that I have read, I could build a compound.

Annnd this portion has officially derailed...

...it took me almost 3 1/2 additional months, but I finally completed this past season of Sons Of Anarchy. On the surface, the show presents me with a weird quandary. As a series itself, I've never deviated from feeling it to be anything short of excellent. Kurt Sutter showed his mastery of drama on The Shield and it bled over fully into Sons Of Anarchy. The difference is Facebook where practically everyone on the planet not only watches the series, but spoils every goddamn episode that airs. So, when you learn of (*spoiler*) Tara's demise before you get a chance to see it, it can act as a bit of a turn off.

I finally watched the finale over the weekend, knowing full well that Tara would be bidding us adieu. I knew it from the opening second. I knew it seven episodes prior that every event was hurdling towards it. However, when it arrived, I can be completely honest...I did not see it coming. It was shocking and unexpected. It was yet another signature moment that showcases what a true writing and conceptualization mastermind that is Kurt Sutter. How Sons Of Anarchy has failed to win any major awards is baffling.

At least no one spoils Justified.
