Much Ado About Nothing To Say
...I was instructed to write something.
...since International Tabletop Day, I have been daydreaming of what it might be like to own and operate a space that sold analog game items and had nightly tournaments and demos. Aside from the obvious where it is a lot of fun and thought-provoking, it was an opportunity to foster friendly competition with strangers. While it can be stated that I cannot at this point call on anyone I met that day for further gaming endeavors, it was a good change of pace to get out and explore my hobby with new people.
If this idea were to even germinate into anything real, I know that it would not provide me the level of income necessary to make it my sole occupation. At least not in the beginning. But it would give me the opportunity to have more social interaction in a place that I would voluntarily travel. I don't care to drink and bars are not ideal for good conversation. A space revolved around a hobby that I actively partake in and enjoy would be something to look forward to every day in my office. Fingers crossed...
...I meant to write something about the indie sci-fi film Europa Report shortly after seeing it but the moment got away from me. I enjoyed it, despite it being a tad slow at times. It was tense, dark and mostly realistic. It created a believable sense of how humans might react that far into uncharted territory, trappings notwithstanding. While not on the same technical level as Gravity, there is one scene in particular that recreates the depth and endless nothingness of what we assume space might feel like. If you like science fiction that is somewhat steeped in reality, Europa Report is a solid film. And yes, it is on Netflix.
...the rumor is beginning to surface that my podcasting career may yet be reborn in short order. If all goes according to plan, You Talk Too Much will be the name of our old/new podcast network's first show. More information when it arrives.
